Virgil van Dijk, a Liverpool defender, has identified the one player from a 'bygone age' that he would have liked to have played alongside in the centre of defence.
The Dutchman is widely regarded as one of the top centre defenders in the world, and he has played a key role in Jurgen Klopp's side's recent success.
"I'd go with Ronald Koeman." "I would say him," van Dijk told Liverpool's official YouTube channel. "Obviously, he's been quite an important figure in my career so far, and he won the Euros with Holland in 1988, so I would say him."Despite being a former Everton manager, Koeman was a standout player for PSV, Barcelona, and Feyenoord, to mention a few, as well as a great ball-playing centre back for his country.
While our No. 4 did lead the Netherlands while the 58-year-old was in command, VVD's choice of Koeman as his dream partner is a genuine praise.
The former Southampton man could have chosen from a number of renowned central defence figures. Many defenders will choose our centre half as their dream partner in the future - for now, let's hope he can continue to perform brilliantly in the second half of the season as we push for four trophies.
